What is Skin ?
So we know skin is the largest organ in the Human Body but what exactly does it do?
Skin is made up of multiple layers, to fully understand the importance of our Skin we need to break it down and look at certain layers.
Lets start at the top with the epidermis, t
he thickness of epidermis depends where on the body you measure, for example it is at its thinnest on the eyelids measuring a mere 0.5 of a millimetre and approximately 1.5 millimetres on the palms and soles.
The epidermis acts as a barrier that shields the body from ultraviolet (UV) radiation, harmful chemicals, and pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
It is a highly complex system that plays a key role in how the immune system communicates and target defense. In todays world we are bombarded daily with more and more pollutants, the epidermis can only keep out so much before there is a breech and toxins breakthrough.
