TOXIC SELF DEFENCE
The Lymphatic System
THE WHO
The lymphatic system plays a huge part aiding our immune system in the following ways:
Removing plus destroying waste, debris, dead blood cells, pathogens, toxins, and cancer cells.
Absorbs fats and fat-soluble vitamins from the digestive system and delivers these nutrients to the hungry cells.
Removes waste products and excess fluid from the interstitial spaces between the cells.
Its up to us to lend a helping hand to our Lymphatic System and we can do this by ridding our bodies of daily toxins, scrubbing with the Just Josef Scrub, taking saunas whenever possible and drinking plenty of water to flush out the system. The body is an amazing machine, but even machines need help from time to time.
THE HOW
Think of a central heating system carrying hot water through various pipes to the radiators which then produce heat, our bodies work on the same principle Arterial blood carries oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to cells. To do this, it leaves the arteries and flows into the tissues and is called interstitial fluid it then delivers its nourishing products to the cells and continues to work hard as it leaves the cells by removing waste products, finally returning 90 % of the fluid to the circulatory system as Venous blood.
THE WHAT
The remaining 10% of this fluid becomes lymph which is a watery fluid that contains waste products. This waste is protein-rich due to the undigested proteins that were removed from the cells. As the lymphatic system does not have a heart to pump it, it depends on the motions of the muscle and joint to push it upward through the body. As it moves upward toward the neck the lymph passes through lymph nodes which filter it to remove debris and pathogens. The filtered, cleansed lymph continues to travel toward the neck and flows into the subclavian veins on either side of the neck and thus re-entering the circulatory system.
